We bought our house in late 2019. In the spring of 2020, we had a surprise plant come up along our fence and we just let it go. No pruning, no nutrients, just the occasional spray with the hose when it was really hot. We came home late on night in late September and it was… gone! Or so we thought- turns out the “stem” had just snapped in half under the sheer weight of it. We ended up having to do an emergency trimming in our kitchen at midnight. At the end, we ended up with close to a pound.
